21 adults and a teenager have been charged after a six-month investigation into heroin trafficking in Middlesex and Somerset counties. The seized more than 600 bricks of heroin with a street value between $400,000 and $450,000. Each brick contained 50 individual bags of heroin packaged for street distribution. Search warrants also netted smaller amounts of cocaine and marijuana as police arrested individuals from New Brunswick, Franklin, Elizabeth and other municipalities. Also seized were two handguns, ammunition, six automobiles and more than $40,000 in cash.
The individuals arrested face a variety of counts including conspiracy, possession and distribution of heroin. Bails range from $10,000 to $750,000 for defendants who are being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick.
